Python Programming Language
In 2018 Python was the fastest growing programming language spurred on by its use for data science and use as a first language by many educational institutions.
⚠️ Do not learn Python as your first language. ⚠️
- is more available to you,
- has the most modern syntax,
- gives you more possibilities,
- deals better with concurrency, and
- helps you learn other languages faster later.
Python’s awkward and broken use of significant white space make it unlike any other language, which is good and bad. Learn Python as your third or later language once you understand what programming is about.
[💢 I have personally witnessed brilliant young coders who learned Python first and now refuse to learn other languages because their initial bias toward Python is so overwhelming. I believe this is not just because Python is a strong language but because the appearance and stigma with other languages created biases in them that they could not get over blocking further learning. Don’t become a one-trick pony.]
