Brian Cantrill (CTO) is the best thing about Joyent. His lively, informed, and ridiculously well researched presentations are legend. This guy orders ancient language manuals from England he bought on eBay just ’cuz. My favorite is when he said that “in the 90s a darkness came across the land” when referring to all the (failed) OOP initiatives.
One of Brian’s most amazing abilities is how he maintains his cool around others when he has more objective evidence and research in his head than most other technologists he will ever encounter. He brings others to understand and accept his conclusions by walking them through how he arrived at them himself. This is a golden ability to have and cultivate as a technologist.
[Is it time to rewrite the operating system in Rust?]
